Women’s History Month: Celebrating the Female Force in Woodworking
March marks Women’s History Month, a time to honor the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. It’s also the perfect time for Meridian Products to celebrate the talented women on our team and the growing presence of female professionals who are helping shape the future of the woodworking industry.
A Legacy of Strength & Skill
The woodworking industry experienced a significant shift during World War II when women took on manufacturing roles in unprecedented numbers.
Inspired by icons like “Rosie the Riveter,” women proved they were more than capable of excelling in traditionally male-dominated fields.
Today, woodworking remains predominantly male, but female representation is growing. The popularity of the Do It Yourself (DIY) culture has produced many influential female designers, wood shop owners, and cabinet makers who are leaving their mark on our industry.
Making an Impact at Meridian Products
Over the past decade, Meridian’s female workforce has grown by over 40%.
We currently employ dozens of women in roles ranging from supervisors and sales representatives to office administrators and shop specialists.
Their dedication and skills are a critical part of our company’s success, and we’re committed to fostering an environment where women continue to thrive in woodworking.
Women Leading the Way
Let’s meet a few of the talented, hardworking women who make up our mighty female workforce!
Felicia B, Finishing Supervisor
With an impressive 20 years of experience in the wood industry, Felicia joined Meridian Products in 2024. She appreciates the company’s high employee retention rate and values the strong communication within her team.
“It takes a special group of individuals to stay in sync and keep things running smoothly in finishing, which can be affected by many variables including material, dirt, equipment failure, even the weather,” she shares.
Lou Ann G, Customer Service
Since joining Meridian Products in 2023 with several years of customer service expertise under her belt, Lou Ann says she enjoys all aspects of her job and loves being able to help customers with challenging requests.
“It makes it so rewarding when a customer asks for something that may take a miracle, and we are able to make it happen. Hearing customers be so thankful makes the stressors of customer service all worth it,” she shares.
Katie V, Customer Service Team Lead & Marketing Strategist
Katie joined Meridian Products in 2021 as a Customer Service Representative and was promoted to her current role in October 2024.
She joined our team with limited industry experience but Katie shares that she has gained “a plethora of knowledge from fellow co-workers about the wood industry.” Since the industry is ever-changing, she says she looks forward to expanding her knowledge in the years ahead.
Nicole S, Customer Service
Nicole started at Meridian Products in 2018 and enjoys assisting customers and collaborating with team members to deliver the best service and products possible. She has also gained appreciation for the craftsmanship behind our cabinet components.
“You see a completed product, but are not aware of the work that goes into making them – order processing, prepping raw materials, cutting, assembling, and so much more,” she explains.
