A Look at Trending Paint Colors for 2024
By Terry Mohler, Sales & Marketing ManagerAs a leading manufacturer of custom cabinetry components and millwork, it’s our job to stay on top of industry trends and offer our customers innovative, high-quality solutions that reflect what today’s buyers are looking for.
Our talented artisans are always creating exciting new products, and quite often the finishing touch that pulls a final design together is the paint color.
Meridian Products currently offers over 35 different exclusive paint colors. Customers also have the option to get a custom color that’s matched to a color swatch or finished example. We’ve color-matched hundreds of paints over the years, including many from Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams.
What’s Popular this Year?
It’s always exciting to see what the kitchen and bath industry predicts as the top colors for the new year. A recent Good Housekeeping article showcases some of the top trending paint colors for 2024, and there’s a current shift towards rich earth tones, pastels, and warmer colors.
Many of the colors in our standard paint portfolio reflect these current trends including Hunter Green, Arctic, Sage, and Burgundy. Several other standard Meridian colors fall within the realm of rich tones and pastels. You can explore all our paint options here.
Beyond Paint Color
While paint color is a key consideration for your clients, the final look and feel of their product can also be influenced by a colored primer, stain, or glaze finish.
Colored primer provides a base that makes it easier to color-match darker-pigmented paint colors, with fewer challenges than using a white primer. Meridian currently offers 10 different colored primers.
Stain colors are available in over 20 options for our natural woods, which include rift-cut white oak, quartersawn red oak, walnut, and of course Hard Maple and Cherry. We work closely with our customers to select stains that will create the look their clients desire.
Helping Clients Choose the Best Colors
Choosing the best paint color for a residential or commercial space can be overwhelming for some people. If a client is having a hard time deciding what’s best for them, here are some factors to consider:
Size of the space. Lighter colors can make a room feel more open and spacious, while darker colors tend to create a cozier atmosphere that can make a space feel smaller. To enhance the sense of space, opt for lighter color shades.
Natural light. Consider the amount of natural light a room receives, as natural light can affect how a color looks throughout the space. Consider testing paint samples in different areas of the room to see how they look in different lighting conditions.
Existing design elements. Consider the colors of the other elements that are present in the space – such as countertops, backsplash, and flooring. Pick a paint color that harmonizes with these elements. If those other design elements are neutral in color, you have more flexibility when choosing a color for your cabinetry components.
Personal style. Your client’s design style plays a big role in the color selection process. What kind of mood are they looking to create? Warm colors can create an inviting atmosphere and cooler colors can create a sense of calm and freshness.
Trendy or traditional? Ask your client if they want a color that’s trendy, or a more timeless color. A trendy color may go out of style, while a neutral or classic color will have lasting appeal.
